The artist has donated the full amount of his £25,000 honor winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

He was awarded the cheque on mid-October as his new release his work was named the best record of the previous year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function local spots had in his initial steps.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," said Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have shut down – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Recently, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their ticket prices, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also joined in, raising in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation supported venues that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted financial assistance in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted performers and audiences.

"The notion that funds from shows in major spaces backs the local stages, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

The musician is among several artists to give his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

Back when Pulp received the trophy in the mid-90s for their album the album, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would donate their winnings to the charity War Child.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her bounty across several good causes, including the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"I also gave a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," she shared with a publication.

In recent years, they contributed their winnings to the community center that developed their act, as well as other independent music bodies.

Additionally 1994 winners the group donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the disease.

"Winning was sufficient," said artist Heather Small. "The prize was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the honor. So our success affected the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected several small stages in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.

The Joiners in the city and the other in the city were purchased under the Own Our Venues program, which is funded by the arts council and music fans who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
